Mercado Libre launches the Meli Awards to pay tribute to its Value chain
ESG will be among the criteria of the second edition of the award, which recognizes the performance of its main suppliers.
Sustainable Purchasing
Becoming the largest e-commerce platform in Latin America is not something that can be achieved alone. In recognition of this, Mercado Libre organized its inaugural Meli Awards in January, with the aim of paying tribute to the performance of over 2,000 companies that form part of its supply chain and services. During this event, ten suppliers were honored in categories essential to Mercado Libre's operations in Brazil.
The awards
The awarded companies excelled in productivity, cost reduction, innovation, and quality projects. For the upcoming 2024 edition, a new selection criterion has been announced: ESG. "We want to increasingly show our appreciation to suppliers dedicated to making a positive impact, considering these criteria into all processes, from hiring to recognition and awards," explains Laura Motta, Senior Sustainability Manager at Mercado Libre.
During the event, all participants were invited to take part in the MELI ESG Summit, an event that will bring together experts and strategic suppliers to discuss guidelines, best practices, and opportunities associated with the ESG agenda, scheduled for April.
