Initiative
Personal Finance for Young People

About the initiative
Financial education for Latin American youth
Mercado Pago has partnered with Junior Achievement, one of the world's largest social organizations focused on promoting youth entrepreneurship, to provide basic financial education to thousands of young people aged 16 to 18 who attend public schools in six Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay.
The program provides an introduction to financial planning and equips participants with the tools they need to manage their personal finances. Participants learn about the importance of saving for a life project, the instruments of investment and credit, and the criteria for using them.
How it works
The initiative is divided into four modules on Junior Achievement's virtual campus, where participants engage with interactive activities and games. In addition, in most cases, students receive personalized support from a team of teachers and have the opportunity to meet with Mercado Pago volunteers to share experiences and learn about the impact of financial education in their lives.
Public school students develop skills like planning, budgeting, investing and credit products.
