About the initiative

A better future starts here

As the top e-commerce platform in Latin America, we believe that helping people buy products with positive socio-environmental impacts is one way we can promote sustainability in our ecosystem.
When we created the Sustainable Products section on Mercado Livre in 2019, our goal was to support shifts in consumer behavior by offering a curated selection of products based on socio-environmental impact criteria.
Through this initiative, not only do we democratize access to the most sustainable products on the market, but we also promote brands and businesses that contribute to reducing environmental impacts while benefiting the communities they serve.
We are currently focused on being the go-to place for sustainable products in Latin America, with the widest selection across over 30 categories. The section is permanent in six countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay.
To expand our offering, we’ve partnered with entrepreneurs and specialized organizations, provide consulting services to brands, and run awareness and visibility campaigns. We also maintain an open channel for consumers to send us suggestions for items they’d like to find or sell on the platform.

Expanding and diversifying our offerings

We establish partnerships with relevant certifications and organizations, such as Sistema B. We also develop our own programs, such as Biomas a um Clique in Brazil and CLIC in Mexico, created to boost sales and the positive impacts of socio-biodiversity and Latin American cultural enterprises.
