About the initiative

A better future starts here

As the top e-commerce platform in Latin America, we believe that helping people buy products with positive socio-environmental impacts is one way we can promote sustainability in our ecosystem.
When we created the Sustainable Products section on Mercado Livre in 2019, our goal was to support shifts in consumer behavior by offering a curated selection of products based on socio-environmental impact criteria.
Through this initiative, not only do we democratize access to the most sustainable products on the market, but we also promote brands and businesses that contribute to reducing environmental impacts while benefiting the communities they serve.
We are currently focused on being the go-to place for sustainable products in Latin America, with the widest selection across over 30 categories. The section is permanent in six countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay.

We created an exclusive section where our users can find the most sustainable products in one place.
To attract more people and make the experience even better, we are always tweaking the criteria, which you can check out in each country’s section.

Growing and diversifying our offerings

We have partnered with certifications and important organizations like Sistema B. We also created our own programs, like Biomas a um Clique, created to boost sales and positive impacts from Latin American sociobiodiversity businesses.

Campaigns

We provide business training for entrepreneurs in the section throughout the year and boost product visibility through campaigns like EcoWeek, held annually since 2016.
The trend of positive-impact consumption is growing and spreading across Latin America. This is shown by the fifth edition of the study "Tendências de Consumo Online com Impacto Positivo na América Latina," which provides an overview of the sector, analyzing habits, preferences, and market trends to improve user experience, diversify available options, and provide strategic insights to help brands increase their positive impact.
