Productive Inclusion
Mercado Libre commits to Productive Inclusion of Young People
This commitment will reinforce the company's actions to drive the employability and vocational training of young individuals in vulnerable situations.
Productive Inclusion
According to the PNAD/IBGE survey, 20% of the 49 million Brazilians aged 15 to 29 currently live without work or employment. One path to addressing this reality involves promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Data collected in 2022 by the Roberto Marinho Foundation, Itaú Educação e Trabalho, and Arymax Foundation reveals that young individuals with technical training remain with their company and advance in their roles in 42% of the surveyed companies. In 61% of them, there is a manager who has previously held a technical position.
In December 2023, Mercado Libre reaffirmed its commitment to fostering productive inclusion among the youth by joining the 1 Million Opportunities Movement (1MiO) and the National Pact for Youth Productive Inclusion. This initiative, spearheaded by UNICEF Brazil in collaboration with the International Labour Organization and the Ministry of Labour, aims to pool efforts towards enhancing employability and vocational training for the vulnerable youth in the country by 2030. The Pact benefits from strategic partnerships with the United Nations Global Compact and the support of the Economic and Social Development Council (CDES) and the National Youth Secretariat (SNJ).
In just two years, 1MiO has brought together more than 140 companies and 1,833 partner municipalities, generating over 250,000 opportunities.
