More than 8,000 young people from Argentina participated in the second edition of the Financial Education Olympics organized by Mercado Pago and Junior Achievement. In total, 309 schools from 24 provinces joined this edition to learn about personal finance, digital security, and responsible money management. After over two months of workshops and fun challenges, Mercado Pago and Junior Achievement, together with Lufindo, awarded the winning teams: Escuela Secundaria N°9 (El Calafate), the Tecnológica Universitaria Werner Von Siemens school (Villa Ballester), and Escuela del Encuentro (Quilmes).
The students presented innovative solutions to tackle real issues: from campaigns to prevent digital fraud and games that raise awareness about online risks to an educational app designed to help plan expenses, save, and invest. The winning teams received tablets to support their studies, and each school also received 20 computers for their classrooms.
“This edition exceeded all our expectations: participation doubled, and 8 out of 10 students say that what they learned will be essential for their future,” said José Ignacio De Carli, Senior Sustainability Manager at Mercado Libre. Junior Achievement’s director, Bernardo Brugnoli, added: “Thousands of young people picked up financial concepts and have applied them in their daily lives. We’re really proud to see them taking the lead in their own learning.”
